A question about a request the City is handling — when a crew will come, why it was closed — is one for the City. Each request's page here links to the City's own record of it.

Questions people ask

How do I sign in?
With Apple, Google, or your email address. With email, we send a message with a link and a six-digit code: tap the link on the device you are signing in on, or type the code there if you are reading the email somewhere else. An account is created the first time you sign in; there is no separate registration.

The sign-in link opened a web page instead of the app.
Some mail services rewrite links, which stops the phone from opening the app directly. The page that opens offers Open in the app; or type the six-digit code from the same email into the app.

I didn't get the sign-in email.
Check Junk. You can ask for another after a minute; up to five an hour go to one address.

Why does a report need my name, email and phone number?
The City requires them on many request types and refuses the request without them. They go to the City exactly as you type them, and this site deletes its copy once the City has filed the request.

I sent a report. Where is it?
Under My requests (My Issues in the app). It gets the City's case number within a minute or two, and its status follows from the City's record — usually within 15 minutes of a change.

My report could not be filed.
Nothing was sent to the City. Check the address is one the City recognizes and that every required question is answered, then try again — or file it on the City's portal directly. If it keeps failing, write to us with the request type and what you saw.

Is my rating public?
No. A rating is private unless you choose to show the score, and a shown score never carries your name. Notes are always private.

How do I stop the emails?
Every daily digest has a link at the bottom that stops it at once, without signing in. You can also turn it off under Account. Sign-in emails are sent only when someone asks for one.

How do I stop notifications?
In the iPhone's Settings → Notifications → Alex311 Reborn, or stop following the request.

How do I delete my account?
On the website: Account → Delete my account. In the app: Account → Delete account. It removes the account, its sign-in record, your list, ratings, notes, watches and devices immediately. See Privacy.

Something on the map is wrong.
The map shows what the City publishes; a wrong address or status there is the City's record. If this site shows something different from the City's own page for the same request, that is ours to fix — please tell us the case number.
